• In March 2021, the Greensand Trust, a UK-based independent environmental charity fundraising organization announced the installation of the automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system at the Rushmere country park. The decision was made to prevent crowding and the formation of queues around the parking lot of the park. However, a proper date of installation has not been fixed yet.
• In April 2021, the City of York Council made two main city center car parks ticketless. The ticketless system will use ANPR cameras to provide ticketless parking. It will let visitors pay for their parking at their exit, rather than at the entrance. The decision was made in partnership with York BID. The new ‘pay-on-exit’ system was installed at the Marygate and Coppergate car parks in York city.
