Saline agriculture is practiced with the understanding that only plants with the ability to absorb water from saline soils and require nutrients such as sodium, chloride, or sulfate are grown on soil-affected lands. Before beginning agricultural practices on saline soils, diagnostic and measuring tests are performed to determine the levels of salt in the soil and their distribution.
